Situated in the delightful square next to the church of San Andrés, this little museum focuses on the early history of the city up to the time it became the imperial capital in 1561.

The city's archaeological collection is housed in the basement and there is a special section dedicated to the city's patron and miracle worker, San Isidro, with pride of place given to the well from which he is said to have saved his son.
