One of Madrid's prime attractions is the football with two of the continent's great teams located in the capital.

Twelve-time European champions Real Madrid's home is in the breathtaking Santiago Bernabéu stadium, while city rivals Atlético Madrid have moved to a state-of-the-art ground on the edge of town close to the airport.

Don't ignore the more humble Rayo Vallecano, though, where the atmosphere is more akin to that at a British football ground.
