Northeast beyond Plaza de España lie the elegant districts of Argüelles and Moncloa, which back on to the verdant Parque del Oeste, the university campus and Casa de Campo.

Sights include the fascinating hoard of memorabilia in the Museo de Cerralbo, the stunning pre-Colombian exhibits housed in the Museo de América. The terrace bars close to the Parque del Oeste are a favourite summer retreat for many and you can also take the cable car out to the Casa de Campo where you can find the zoo and attraction park.
